Family Devotion

Family Devotion
Week 4

The Ten Commandmants

Parents go through the Ten Commandmants (Exodus 20: 1-17) and pick out three that you want to go over with your children. In detail, explain to them these commandments and how they are applied in your house. For example "You must not murder." Explain how you follow thie literally in your household, but you also follow its fuller meaning that Christ explained in Matthew 5:21-22. We don't murder, we don't become angry enough toward someine that we would want something bad to happen to them.

Mine Trap
Gather several items from yourhouse that you could set up as an obstacel course (chairs, pillows, toys, etc). Blindfold a family member and arrange the obstacles on the floor. The goal is for one family member to safely navigate the blindfolded family member through the obstacle course using only thier words. After each person has had thier turn, talk about the advantage that the non- blindfolded person had. Explain that God is like the person who can see the obstacle course and we are like the blindfolded ones. God always knows what's best for us and when we follow His instructions we will have the best life possible.

This devotion complements the Sunday morning children's church program.
