God is Generous: I Should Give Back to Him!

Read this week's Bible Story in Genesis 28:10-22. Jacob was so thankful to God that he promised to give back to Him. What are some things that you are thankful for? What are some ways that we can give back to God?

Donate Time
Set aside a few hours this week as a family. Discuss how this is another way we give back to God. You could volunteer after a church service to help clean up, serve a meal at a local shelter or volunteer to pick up trash in your neighborhood. Talk about all of the was God has blessed your family and how you should be grateful and give back to him, even with your time.

Give Back
This week help your children establish a system to set aside their tithes every time they receive money. You might help them decorate two piggy banks, plastic containers or even envelopes. One of the containers will be for 90% of the money they receive and the other one will be for the 10% that they will give back to God. Throughout the week remind them what an honor it is to be faithful and give back to God. Talk about how everything comes from God and by being faithful with our tithes we are giving back to God. At the end of the week, reminding them to empty the 10% container and bring their offering to church.
